Sweet Blackened SalmonI just bought frozen Blackened Salmon @ Sams Club, sprinkled a tiny bit of Splenda on top & grilled it & some mango for the top.

Mango Madness QuinoaJust kinda wing it to your taste, I made this up, so yeah a pinch of this a pinch of that kinda thing. 1 cup Quinoa, 13/4 cups water, 1/2 med. Mango cut into small pieces, 1 lime, 1/4 cucumber cut into small pieces, 1 sweet pepper cut into small pieces, 1/4 small onion cut into small pieces, some crushed black pepper, & some Pico de Gallo con limon(it's a mexican spice)Simmer water & Quinoa covered on low for about 15 mins or until it's tender,  pops in your mouth. All water should be gone. If not done add more water. If you want to cook it quicker you  can boil instead of simmer with 2 cups water. When done add all ingredients, squeeze lime over top, stir & it's ready. I like to eat it cool, or room temp, but it's up to you.ENJOY!

Trip to Lavender Fields/Young Living Farm

I am obsessed with the Lavender fields, if you are friends with me on fb you probably know this.
They are so pretty, & I am really into essential oils, ( some of my friends call them my hippie oils) & I live so close to this place & had never been. It's pretty cool to take a walk around there, & smells delightful. I want to attend some of their festivals sometime soon. Thanks to my buddies that attended with me & sexy Mr. Nielson.

They have a lot of random stuff there, I guess they do a knights tournament/jousting event.
It was really cool, I recommend a visit.

Bridal Shower-Ring Bowl & Air Plant

This is a Bridal Shower gift I made. It's a ring bowl, you set it next to your kitchen or bathroom sink to put wedding rings in, while washing hands or showering. I think you could find a better shaped bowl than I did, & maybe try felt, or material instead of paper. All I did is mod podge paper on a tea light holder & put a heart with their initials inside.

This is what I gave Candice along with the Ring Bowl.
It's an Air Plant. They are so cool, you can basically grow them on anything. I will post more about them
later.

Homemade Bug Spray

I found this & had to try it. I love essential oils & only had to buy the witch hazel. Smells so much better. I used lavender,  peppermint, & Eucalyptus. Love it!

Natural Mosquito Repellent Recipes and Other Ways to Deter Biting Insects

I was outside listening to my boyfriend play the guitar on Sunday and kept getting bitten. It was enough remind me that it's mosquito season even though I'm not outdoors that often anymore. So I thought it fitting to share a natural bug repellent recipe that I found on Wellness Mama blog.

End of Time Bugspray, $6 from Good 4 You
There are a handful of widely recognized essential oils that possess properties that naturally repel biting insects. These oils include: cedarwood, lavender, lemon, patchouli, neem, peppermint, rosemary, basil, thyme, citronella, lemongrass, pennyroyal, tea tree oil, geranium, catnip, and eucalyptus. While the recipe fromWellness Mama doesn't include all of these ingredients, you can use any combination of essential oils you like based on availability or scent preference. Her bug spray calls for including an essential oil blend, boiled water, and witch hazel though you can also make a repellent using an essential oil blend and a carrier oilsuch as olive oil, sweet almond oil, jojoba oil or even rice bran oil which I like because it's light but effective.

Wellness Mama Essential Oil Bug Spray
Ingredients:
  • Essential oils: choose from Citronella, Clove, Lemongrass, Rosemary, Tea Tree, Cajeput, Eucalyptus, Cedar, Catnip, Lavender, Mint
  • Natural Witch Hazel
  • Distilled or boiled Water
  • Vegetable glycerin (optional)
Instructions:
  1. Fill spray bottle (I used 8 ounce) 1/2 full with distilled or boiled water
  2. Add witch hazel to fill almost to the top
  3. Add 1/2 tsp vegetable glycerin if using
  4. Add 30-50 drops of essential oils to desired scent. The more oils you use, the stronger the spray will be. My personal favorite mix is: Rosemary, Clove, Cajeput, Lavender, Cinnamon and Eucalyptus… it works great and smells good too!
